Ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea Cruises has announced that it is building a new ship measuring 36,000 tonnes with a capacity of 540 guests at the Italian Fincantieri yard. The ship will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2009 and the line has taken an option for a second vessel, an indication of the current boom in luxury cruising.

MSC Cruises
MSC Magnifica

90,000 tonnes, 2568 passengers
Launch Spring 2010

MSC Magnifica will be the fourth ship in the " Musica " class and the twelfth of MSC Cruises fleet when it launches in 2010. Magnifica will share many of Musica's popular features, including a central foyer with three-deck-high waterfall; a 16,000-square-ft. spa with chromotherapeutic hydro massage and a Turkish bath; a three-deck theatre, a secondary show lounge and disco.


P&O Azura

116,000 tonnes, 3100 passengers
Launch Spring 2010

Azura will cater for 3,100 passengers and have 15 public decks, 11 restaurants, five boutiques, four swimming pools, two lounges and more than 900 private balconies. Its maiden voyage will be in late spring in 2010, with further details announced early next year.


Celebrity Eclipse

122,000 tonnes, 2850 passengers
Launch June 2010

The ship will make its maiden voyage in 2010, following sister ships Celebrity Solstice in 2008 and Celebrity Equinox in 2009. Like its sister ships, Celebrity Eclipse will have larger standard staterooms, 90% THEM OUTSIDE AND 85% with verandas.


Cunard

Cunard Cruise Line
Cunard Queen Elizabeth

92,000 tonnes, 2092 passengers
Launch Autumn 2010

Queen Elizabeth will fly the Red Ensign with her home-port Southampton, like the other ships in the Cunard fleet.  The vessel will be the second largest Cunarder ever built. It is scheduled to enter service in autumn 2010, two years after the QE2 will leave the fleet to become a floating luxury hotel in Dubai.
